Doug Yoder speaks at a Farm/Crop Information Meeting
January 21, 2015

On Thursday, January 8, 2015, COUNTRY Financial and the Illinois Farm Bureau sponsored a Farm/Crop Informational Meeting.  It was held at the Sand Prairie Lutheran Church in Green Valley.  Over 60 people attended to listen to Doug Yoder, Senior Director at IFB, speak on the newly passed Farm Bill.  Another speaker was Brenda Dozier, COUNTRY Financial, on crop/hail insurance. And last was Maggie Wienke, CFP, ChFC, CLU, CASL, FFSI, FLMI, and Financial Security Consultant for COUNTRY Financial, she spoke about Estate and Financial Planning for farmers.

On November 20, 2014 the Prime Timers had a Holiday Luncheon at Sazani's in Pekin.  After the buffet, they were entertained by the Pride of Peoria, a quartet group from Peoria.  Then they had a visit from Santa who asked them all if they had been naughty or nice all year and gave them a candy cane.  This was the last event of this year for the Prime Timers.  They will have a planning meeting in January to decide what events they would like to have in 2015.

October 8, 2014

Twenty-six Prime Timers went to the matinee "The Odd Couple" at the Peoria Players Theatre on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Before the play, the Prime Timers met at the Golden Corral for lunch.  The play is about a compulsive neatnik who through personal circumstances needs a place to stay and that ended up being with his pal who is extremely sloppy.  The play was great and the Prime Timers all enjoyed their Sunday afternoon!

Rob Clark, an employee of the Tazewell County Soil and Water Conservation Service, and Doug Godke, Manager of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau, were recently at Friedrich Farms near Green Valley to certify the harvest of 1 acre of corn for the National Corn Growers annual yield contest.  Clark is measuring out exactly 1 acre for the yield check.  Contestants must have people watch the harvest, follow the grain to the elevator, watch it being weighed, then calculate the yield taking into consideration the moisture content.  Results of the yield contest will be announced this co

The Prime Timers had their Annual Wiener Roast on September 16, 2014.  Here they are checking the fire to make sure it will be ready for roasting wieners.  Merle and Donna Woodrow volunteered to have the wiener roast at their cabin by the lake.  As you can see in the picture, it is a beautiful place to relax, roast some wieners and have good conversation with friends.
